Yesterday I did not have any time to tell you what we had got up to yesterday during class, well at least I don't think. Well Natalie and I have chosen what we are going to do in the assignment. We have decided that we would two two topics of the assignment together, and two others by ourselves.
Our topics are:
1.Digital TV Transmision, HD TV Transmitions
2.CPU
3.Motherboards
4.Software License types (commercial, shareware, freeware)
5.Displays (LCD, CRT and plasma screens) explain high definition displays
6.Hand held multimedia devices (eg. umpc, iPod, iTouch, iriver, touch screen phones)

We have divided up what we want to do and so this is what we have decided to do:

Natalie:
1. Digital TV Transmision, HD TV Transmitions
5. Displays (LCD, CRT and plasma screens) explain high definition displays

Danni:
2. CPU
3. Motherboards

Together:
4. Software License types (commercial, shareware, freeware)
6. Hand held multimedia devices (eg. umpc, iPod, iTouch, iriver, touch screen phones)

So we will get on with our work today and post it on our protopage and you can see what work we have done. The URL of our page is on Natalie's blogger page, so you click on what says 'here' and it will take you there.

27/8/08

i have been away for the past two weeks so i have had no idea of what to expect and so now i am back and am prepared to work on mine and Natalie's assignment.

Natalie is just about to show me what we have to do since just before i got sick we just received the assignment, and she will tell me what i need to do and so then i will get a move on.

Apparently i have to answer some questions on CPU.

==============================

CPU Questions
1. What is the function of the CPU?
'CPU' is also known as a microprocessor or central processing unit. A CPU is a complete computing engine that is fabricated on a single chip.
2. What was the name of the first CPU?
The name of the first CPU was the 'Intel 4004' which was introduced in 1971.
3. Reffering on the graph page on page 2 of the article, describe how the speed of CPU's have changed.
Over the years, CPU's have changed due to dramatic changes people have done to it. When the first CPU came out, it ran well at a precise speed. When the years went by, Intel made changes to the CPU such as changing the Transistors, Microns and MIPS. With the tansistors, with the 8080, it had 6,000 tansistors. Now with the Pentium 4 or Prescott, it has 125,000,000 transistors. Little changes such as these make a big difference to its running speed.
4. What does MIPS measure?
'MIPS' strands for 'millions of instuctions per second'. It is a rough measure of the performance of a CPU.
Most modern PC's use what are called dual core processors. It is often stated that such processors improve multitasking.
5. Research (google it) what is a dual processor, what is multitasking and how do the two work together.
A dual processor is a system which contains two seperate physical computer processors in the same chasis.

Today in class, Mr Lennon told us to visit a new website. One that i have not been to before. This website is called Sprout.
Supposedly, Sprouts is a website which is an anbediable user, it allows you to upload any multimedia user and anything you upload is automatically uploaded around the world.

This website is an option that we can use for our project which is researching multimedia.
